Minutes of the Meeting of Fosdyke Parish Council

Present

  • 10 Members of the Public including Cllr J Cantwell

The meeting began with introductions from the chair of the Councillors, Clerk and Support Officer. An explanation of where all fire exits and emergency exits are given.

PUBLIC FORUM

The public forum began with residents asking for an update regarding highways and mill lane, the councillor explained this was on the agenda and will come back to the public when we reach that agenda item.

25/45 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENSES

Apologies from councillor k overall who couldn’t attend due to sickness.

 

25/46 DECLARATION OF INTERESTS

No declarations received

25/47 MINUTES OF THE MEETING TO BE SIGNED

September 2nd minutes – Cllr M Houssain proposed, Cllr J Rushworth seconded and accepted by the Council.

Both minutes signed by the Chairman.

 

 

25/48 CORRESPONDENCE

 

25/49 FINANCIAL MATTERS

The clerk gave a report of where we were getting with online banking and that we are still waiting on NatWest to complete their process of approval.

25/50 TO RECEIVE REPORTS FROM REPRESENTATIVES ON OUTSIDE BODIES

Councillor J Cantwell gave a verbal update in regard to the local surrounding villages and what has been happening within the village and local groups.

25/51 ALLOTMENTS  

Due to Cllr a Mowton having a declaration of interest Cllr a Mowton was not involved within the discussion. an explanation regarding the allotment rents was given by Mr D Glenn however due to the council not being quarate no decision was made and was delayed until the next council meeting.

25/52 HIGHWAYS

the public was allowed to speak during this part of the meetings on their issues in regards to highways , the clerk gave a update she received from Cllr p lock in regards to their drive around the village and lanes leaving the village , Cllr p lock as suggested we join the community speed watch program, the clerk responded with saying she will look into this further . a member of the public also asked regarding an update with Thompsons Lane, the clerk said she had not received any information from the correct authorities regarding Thompsons Lane and she will get in touch with them and will update at next meeting.

 

25/53 TO RECEIVE REPORTS FROM REPRESENTATIVES ON OUTSIDE BODIES

The playing field committee has suggested that it would be good to have a parish council represented on their committee, Cllr J Rushworth has said he would be happy to fill this position. Cllr M Moussain proposed Cllr J Rushworth, Cllr A Mowton seconded this.

25/54 ARMISTICE DAY  

Cllr m Hossain gave an update on how FPC reuse their wreath every year and then donate the cost of the wreath to the royal British legion this was suggested to do this again this year Cllr A Mowton proposed, Cllr j Rushworth seconded.  the council discussed the location of laying the wreath as previously it was laid at the Fosdyke sign however it was resolved that it would be laid at the war memorial inside all saints’ church Fosdyke. Cllr J Rushworth proposed and Cllr M Houssain seconded.

25/55 CHRISTMAS LIGHTS /TREE

The council discussed a date to be set to dress the Christmas tree with lights, the council agreed on 22nd November, Mr D Glenn will contact the relevant person in regard to collecting the lights and keys. the clerk also gave a message on behalf of the Fosdyke coffee morning and that they would like to donate their extra funds to getting a star to put onto the tree this year , Cllr M Houssain explained how we would need to look into creating a structure for it to attach to and will get some quotes and will be discussed at the next meeting .

25/56 TO RESOLVE ON WHETHER THE COUNCIL WILL MOVE INTO CLOSED SESSION TO CONSIDER THE CO-OPTION TO FILL COUNCILLOR VACANCY.

The council resolved to go into closed session to co opt a councillor to fill the vacancy, after due consideration, Mr M Kilburn was duly coopted as a councillor for Fosdyke parish council.

25/57 ANY OTHER BUSINESS

A resident asked regarding the dyke by Randolph Road and how it is overgown, the council responded stating it was owned by LHP and wasn’t council responsibility to get it cut down.

Another resident asked regarding the new broadband if there was an update on how it’s going and whether they will be covering the box to make it look pretty the clerk said she will get in touch with them and see if they can provide a update.
