Grimsby to Walpole Stage 2 consultation

Dear Parish Council,

Following up on our formal notification of the Grimsby to Walpole Stage 2 consultation, we are reaching out to request your assistance in publicising the consultation in your community.

We have enclosed a series of posters, that include details of our Grimsby to Walpole consultation in different areas along the proposed route.

The posters provide information about the different ways local people can learn more about the proposals and share their views. By putting up the posters at local prominent locations, you can help to ensure that your community has the opportunity to participate in the consultation process and learn more about our proposals.

Grimsby to Walpole is a proposal for a new high voltage overhead electricity transmission line and substations between a new substation near Grimsby in North East Lincolnshire and a new substation near Walpole in Norfolk.

It is one of five new electricity transmission projects being proposed in Lincolnshire. All are part of The Great Grid Upgrade - the biggest overhaul of the electricity transmission network in Britain for a generation. We require these new reinforcement projects so we can continue to deliver a reliable, affordable network into the future and meet the rising demand for electricity.

The way we generate electricity has changed. These projects will connect our homes, businesses and public services to sources of home-grown energy which can lower our electricity bills and make our country more energy secure. The existing network in the region does not have the capacity to deliver the required amount of electricity to where it is needed across the East Midlands.

The Stage 2 consultation launches on Wednesday 11 June and will end at 11:59pm on Wednesday 6 August 2025. We are seeking feedback from the community on our proposals, and would greatly appreciate your support in raising awareness of the consultation in your community.
